“Personal Training at MAC has given me the confidence to know that I can achieve any goals that I choose to set. Before I started working with starr, I had all but given up on the possibility of losing weight, and couldn’t imagine myself being a fit, athletic person. I didn’t even know that was who I wanted to be, because it seemed so far out of the realm of possibility!
I began working with Starr as a part of the Body Shape-Up Challenge. I had also signed up for a 25 mile bike ride, and was going to give running for 20 minutes without stopping a shot. I “hoped” I could do both. Starr gave me a weekly plan to follow and I did achieve both of my goals!
After those accomplishments, Starr helped give me a new goal, to complete a 5k, which I also succeeded at. She was immensely supportive, and was actually right by my side when I accomplished each of these three goals!
Recently, she’s been helping me work through a problem with my knees. In the past, this setback would have been enough for me to slack off and lose sight of losing weight, or setting new goals. But this time, Starr was there to modify the exercises I do, and I have continued to lose weight.
Currently, I’ve lost 50lbs, and have made it past the worst of my knee issues- and I’m looking forward to more achievements!
The biggest benefit to having Starr as my Personal Trainer has been the confidence I have because I know that I can go to her for her knowledge and support. I would definitely recommend Personal Training to friends and family!”

“While participating in the Body Shape-Up Challenge at MAC I’ve learned how to take care of myself physically, emotionally and spiritually.
I’ve learned that I’m not a quitter and I can challenge myself beyond the limits I had set for myself. I have lost a total of 23 lbs and have never felt better. I walk around now with a smile on my face!
Not only did I do this challenge with my husband (great motivation), but I’ve also become a great role model for my eleven-year-old daughter. I’ve really enjoyed the spinning classes and the MAC staff has been encouraging and full of information.

“MAC is a gym like no other! I say this from experience. I have tried many of the other gyms in the area, and there is just no comparison. Other gyms, for whatever reason tend to put their main emphasis on keeping a dead quiet atmosphere (or as they put it, “a non-intimidating” atmosphere) rather than health and fitness itself (I thought that’s what libraries are for!?!).
At the MAC there is a very pleasant and personable atmosphere with a highly professional and insightful staff, and let me tell you, that makes a huge difference!
The MAC also offers a wide spectrum of classes that are absolutely killer! I’ve tried several of the classes MAC offers, and every single one of them was impressive. All the classes I’ve tried, which include: BodyPump, Body Blast, and several others were as much fun as they were intense! The trainers that run these classes really know their stuff! These classes really helped me shed pounds and tone up.
Another advantage I noticed was all the state-of-the-art equipment. MAC without question has the largest variety of equipment around, and it’s for this reason my workouts never get stale. I enjoy using everything from the free-weights to all the nautilus equipment to even the cardio machines. I tend to change my routines up daily, and I find that because of the large selection of equipment it’s easy to do.
When I started the Body Shape Up Challenge, I was pretty over weight and out of shape. Twelve weeks later, I find that I have really trimmed up, not to mention my energy level is through the roof!
I now play a variety of sports after being dormant for about four years. Not only am I playing sports again, I’m now able to keep up with the best of them! The motivation this contest has given me is incredible, and so are the results I’ve gotten! Even if I don’t win the contest, I’ve already won so much more!!!

“I joined MAC after the death of my mother-in-law and the announcement of my own mother’s diagnosis of lung cancer. At that point I was 225 lbs (my entire adult life I never weighed more than 130 lbs). I was pre-diabetic, had high blood pressure and started to develop sleep apnea all at the ripe age of 38 (not to mention I was suffering from severe depression).
I decided it was time to pull my act together and get my body and mind in balance. My self-esteem and self body image was at an all time low. At first I hid in the women’s center to have privacy. To work up to my capacity I started with walking on the treadmill and the step machine. At that time 10 minutes was a great workout, that’s all I could do. Once I dropped my first ten pounds I got excited and decided to talk to a personal trainer and nutritional consultant.
I started to follow a regiment of eating good foods properly and personal training with Austin. From that point on I worked out 5 days a week, 2-3 days with Austin and 2 days doing cardio on my own. I tried fitness classes, pilates, and other services the gym had to offer. My personal trainer, Austin, always encouraged me, pushed me, and supported my efforts. The entire MAC staff would welcome me and compliment me on my progression of weight loss, they’re like family.
Now at my goal of 135lbs I feel better than I ever have! I have more energy and my health issues have resolved themselves. It has also helped me to focus on staying strong mentally and relieve the stress of my family responsibilities. I currently work out 3 days a week, still with my personal trainer, to help sculpt and tone my new body.

“I started at MAC in September after being away from the gym for a few years. Being a wife, full-time mom of two children, a full time student, and having a full-time job, I spent very little time on myself. Over the last couple of years, without even realizing it, I had gained a lot of weight. I didn’t recognize the person I saw in the mirror and it was depressing.
Knowing that I had to do something about my weight and general health, and being at wits end, I mustered up enough courage to walk into the gym and discuss my situation and goals with a personal trainer. I met with Justin and he was very understanding, non-judgmental, and provided the motivation I needed to begin a program to get fit.
Justin put me on a well-balanced exercise and nutrition plan that included a meal plan, proper supplementation, and exercise routine. Through Justin, I have learned to eat healthy, how to take care of myself both physically and mentally, and have re-gained the confidence I once had. Justin took the time to get to know me and has been extremely supportive the entire time.
After 6 months, I had lost over 90 pounds and over 12 dress sizes. But most importantly, I FEEL GOOD! I now have the energy to keep up with my kids and my hectic schedule. I have made physical fitness and healthy eating a permanent part of my lifestyle. I enjoy the workouts and new challenges that Justin pushes me to do.
Everyday, I am amazed at the strength, ability, and endurance I have gained in such a short time. I owe many thanks to Justin who has gone above and beyond to help me succeed. It really has been a team venture. I look forward to continuing with my program.

“As a person who did not make physical fitness a priority in my adult life, I was more than a little hesitant to start any kind of conditioning program. After having several conversations with Lyle last summer, I decided the time was right to give the MAC a chance.
After my initial meeting with Billy – the confidence he installed in me- made me believe this life- changing experience could take place. After six Months working with Billy even I am amazed at how much I have changed both physically and mentally.
Physically, I am in the best shape of my life. I’ve lost about 45 pounds, and more importantly nine inches off my waist. I remember thinking at my first session with Billy that I would never make through a single 10-minute workout. Now, I work out an hour a day, five days a week.
Mentally, the transformation has been even greater. I’ve taken more pride in myself in general and the confidence this experience has given me is something I use in all facets of my life.
