It required an initial descent of 4000 feet over 9 miles, carrying a 50 pound back pack!  Then, after two days along the Colorado River and inner Canyon, there was the 4000 feet ascent, and over 10 miles back to the rim. Four days in the big hole! <strong>Thanks to Juliann and Personal Training at MAC,  I was ready and had no problems!&#8221;

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In any gym, you will find various equipment that looks appealing, but can be a little intimidating if you aren&#8217;t sure how to use it. The Bosu Ball is one of those pieces of equipment. It&#8217;s a blue dome-shaped object, round and inflatable on one side, flat and durable on the other. It looks like this:</p>

<p>I&#8217;m willing to bet that you&#8217;ve seen MAC&#8217;s Personal Trainers using this quite often with our clients, sometimes using the domed side, sometimes using the flat side. It&#8217;s definitely a favorite tool among Personal Trainers! Why do we love it so much? Let me count the ways!<br />
1. It&#8217;s versatile.<br />
There are so many dynamic exercises that can be done on a Bosu! You can stand on it, jump on it, kneel on it, lay on it, or sit on it. You can use either side. You can work your upper body, your lower body, and your torso. You can add it to practically any exercise you like, increasing the benefits of that exercise.  Here&#8217;s Plaza Trainer Juli showing a few of her favorites, the Bosu Crossover Crunch and The Bosu Curl.<br />

<p>2. It helps in real life.<br />
Balance is one of those areas of Fitness that doesn&#8217;t lead to big aesthetic changes, and therefore often gets over looked. But any effort you put into improving your balance has big real-life payouts. Balance is important in how you move, your posture, and how stable you are on irregular surfaces. Good balance can help prevent injuries from falling, and can help avoid muscle imbalances that can lead to other injuries. The Bosu helps to improve balance by making the right and left sides of the body work equally hard, strengthening small stabilizing muscles in the process.</p>
<p>3. It challenges the core like nothing else.<br />
The core (a collective term for the muscles all the way around your torso) is an area that that gives many of us quite a bit of grief. And the Bosu helps you work your entire core, not just your abs! Performing exercises on an unstablile surface, such as the Bosu, helps to automatically engage the core. Killer core move, such as the plank, given even greater core strengthening benefits when combined with the Bosu!</p>
<p>4. My favorite reason? It&#8217;s fun!<br />
Boredom is a big reason why people give up on their fitness routine. The Bosu Ball is never boring! The Bosu makes working out feel a bit like playing, which is an excellent thing!</p>
